A new kind of community news organisation
Exeter Observer is published by Exeter Observer Limited, an FCA-registered non-profit community benefit society that is democratically owned by its members.
It is our members that enable us to hold wealth, power and influence to account while helping people participate more effectively in local democracy.
Each supports our publishing with a small monthly subscription and each has a say in how Exeter Observer is run, with a share in the society and one-member-one-vote democratic decision-making according to the Rules of Exeter Observer Limited, our binding constitutional document.
Every subscription helps sustains our public interest reporting about what matters in and around Exeter and ensures it stays free for everyone’s benefit.
When you join Exeter Observer you don’t just become an active supporter of the independent journalism Exeter needs, you become co-owner of a new kind of community news organisation.
Membership subscriptions are payable monthly or annually by direct debit, with the purchase of a £1 share in Exeter Observer Limited included in the first payment.
The standard subscription rate is £10 per month. Some members pay more to sponsor memberships for those on low incomes who pay less.
You can support Exeter Observer without becoming a member if you prefer.
As the bank charges a fee for each transaction we invite all those who can afford to do so to pay annually.
