Sustainability all-dayer returns with comedy, music, workshops, film screenings, community stalls and more.

Green Phoenix Festival is returning for its third year on Sunday 5 July with comedy, music, workshops, film screenings and community stalls.

Launched in 2024, and developed with local sustainability organisations and individuals, the event aims to raise awareness of the climate crisis and highlight ways to fight it.

The festival is suitable for all ages.

Matt Winning, an environmental researcher and stand-up comedian, will headline the festival with his set Solastalgia about climate change and saving the world.

Workshops include badge-making with Significant Seams, craft activities with Greenpeace Exeter, wildflower seed pots with Lou’s Wild Garden and fabric printing with Exeter Community Alliance.

There will be screenings of climate and nature-themed films including A Year In the Wood, a feature-length documentary about a 12-acre woodland in Shillingford.

Exeter Young City Laureate Graci Wakely will give a poetry reading and Devon musician Maz McNamara will perform folk songs from Richard Chappell Dance production Us Folk.

There will also be face-painting by Sparkly Sonia, an exhibition of artworks by children from Ide Primary School and a quiet space with free soup from How on Earth deli.

Community stalls will include Exeter Food Action, Exeter CND, Devon Butterfly Conservation and food growers from in and around Exeter.

Green Phoenix Festival takes place from 11am on Sunday 5 July 2026 at Exeter Phoenix.

Tickets for Solastalgia cost between £8-16 on a pay-what-you-can basis, or £6 for students and under-25s. The festival is otherwise free to attend.
