Refugee Support Devon is celebrating this year’s Refugee Week with events including a film screening, radio programme and a live performance alongside a month-long fundraising campaign.
Refugee Week takes place in June each year and features arts, cultural and educational events aimed at celebrating the contributions of refugees to their communities. This year’s theme is “courage”.
Events in Exeter begin with a screening of Everybody to Kenmure Street, a 2026 documentary about events in Glasgow in May 2021 when an attempt by immigration officers to detain two men was met with considerable resistance from the community.
The programme also includes a broadcast of global music and conversation on Phonic FM and a performance of traditional drumming and dance by a group of Eritrean women, brought together by Refugee Support Devon, as part of Exeter Northcott’s Reclaim Festival.
The charity is also hosting a Refugee Week office open day which offers an opportunity to meet its team and learn more about its work.

Founded in 2021, Refugee Support Devon aims to help refugees settle successfully in the community so they can rebuild their lives, receive respect as equal members of society and reach their full potential.
The charity is running a month-long campaign aimed at signing up 100 new regular donors during June to help provide it with financial stability as demand for its services grows.
Exeter Refugee Week takes place from Monday 15 June to Saturday 20 June 2026.
