A dance, drumming and mask-making workshop to raise funds for Sudan is taking place on Saturday 21 February at Exwick Community Centre.
Participants will paint ready-made paper masks using photographs of African tribal masks for inspiration before being invited into movement and dance to African drumming with Shumba Arts.

Shumba Arts is an Exeter-based community arts organisation which delivers dance and drumming workshops inspired by the pan-African tradition in schools, community centres and at outdoor events.
It also performs at festivals including Exeter Respect.
The fundraising event, organised by local resident Laila Jhaveri, aims to raise money for charities working in Sudan including Action Against Hunger and UNICEF.
The Sudanese civil war, which broke out in 2023, has been described by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees as the “largest and most devastating displacement, humanitarian and protection crisis in the world today”.
Fundraiser for Sudan takes place from 10.30am to 3pm on Saturday 21 February 2026 at Exwick Community Centre in Kinnerton Way. (The event has been extended since the poster was created.)
The minimum donation to attend is £30 (or £25 concessions) with tea and cake available for an additional cash donation.
