Exeter Seed Bank is holding its fourth annual seed swap with hands-on activities, stalls and displays from local community groups on Sunday 1 March at Positive Light Projects.
Around 5,000 packets of seeds will be given away, many of which were collected at seed-packing workshops held over the past twelve months.
Attendees are also invited to bring a compost sample to a pop-up soil testing lab hosted by The Soil Smiths, a Soil Ecology Laboratory project.
Second-hand books on gardening, soil and seeds will be offered for sale by local charity Book-Cycle and a community-run café will offer tea, coffee and home-made cakes.

Exeter Seed Bank aims to share knowledge about seed saving, an ancient craft that is being revived in the face of diminishing seed diversity.
It is creating a bank of seeds that work in local soils which takes into account other issues such as biodiversity loss and climate change.
It aims to hold organic, heirloom or heritage flower and vegetable seeds, with wildflower mixes to increase the presence of pollinators.
It also programmes events which follow the seed calendar and creatively engage people with the natural world while encouraging environmental stewardship.
Exeter Seed Bank’s 2026 seed swap takes place from 1-4pm on Sunday 1 March 2026 at Positive Light Projects in Sidwell Street. Entry is free but donations of £3 are encouraged.
