A programme of creative workshops, classes and events including poetry and music performances is taking place from Tuesday 6 to Friday 30 January in Exeter city centre.
Bunyip Craft is offering workshops in embroidery, jewellery-making, sewing machine basics and how to patch and mend clothing in Fore Street, where The Jolly Pottery is also hosting pottery-painting and mug-making sessions.
Inky Fingers is offering classes in collage and origami at Positive Lights Projects in Sidwell Street and Bird & Blend will teach participants how to mix mocktails using tea at its Exeter High Street shop.
Spork! is holding an evening of spoken-word performance and live music featuring Devon poets Manganaro, Harula Ladd and Casey Garfield at Chococo’s Gandy Street shop.
In Paris Street, 12 Bar Music & Social is hosting a meeting of Exeter City of Literature’s silent book club, extending the reach of its regular quiet reading sessions.

January Sessions is organised by InExeter, the city’s Business Improvement District, which provides services and support to businesses in several areas covering 44 streets in and around the city centre.
InExeter began its third term in April last year following a ballot of eligible businesses in November 2024. Launched in 2015, it was renewed for a second five-year term following a 2019 ballot.
It charges those businesses located within its operational areas whose premises have a ratable value of at least £7,500 a levy of 1.25% on top of their ordinary business rates.
Its 2025-30 business plan says the top three priorities for the businesses it represents are anti-social behaviour and criminal activity, high car parking charges and vacant city centre properties, while its strategic aims cover safety, street cleaning, marketing and advocacy.
January Sessions takes place between Tuesday 6 and Friday 30 January 2026 at various venues in Exeter city centre.
