Exeter Contemporary Open returns to the Phoenix Gallery from 12 September to 1 November to present the work of fifteen contemporary visual artists selected from hundreds of entries from across the UK.
This year’s exhibitors are Helen Acklam, Stacey Allan, Chris Alton, Yiduo Cheng, Andy Cluer, Mani Kambo, Kenji Lim, Giles Round, Divya Sharma, Nancy Singh, Ross Taylor, Sophie Wake, Charlotte Warne Thomas and Lily Wei.
Two prizes, an overall award of £1,000 and an additional award of £500, will be selected by a judging panel and presented on the exhibition opening night.
The recipient of a £200 audience choice award, voted for by gallery visitors, will be announced in the exhibition’s final week.
Exeter Contemporary Open was established in 2006 and is now an annual event.
The 2025 selection panel was Harriet Cooper, director of The Burton at Bideford Art Gallery & Museum, Remi Rana-Allen, artist and lecturer at Chelsea and Camberwell art colleges, and Exeter Phoenix curator and gallery manager Matt Burrows.
Exeter Contemporary Open runs from Friday 12 September to Saturday 1 November 2025 at the Phoenix Gallery, Exeter Phoenix, with a preview from 6-8pm on Thursday 11 September.
