Exeter City of Literature event features independent booksellers from across the county with author talks, stalls, food and drink.

The Exeter City of Literature book market returns to Cathedral Green for its fifth year on Sunday 8 June.

The event features independent bookshops from across the county including Bookbag, First Draft Books, The Ivybridge Bookshop, Liznojan and Seven Fables.

There will be talks from Sophie Pavelle, Arun Sood, Aaliyah Kara and Jasmine Elmer and stalls selling food, drink and handmade goods.

Exeter City of Literature is a member of the UNESCO Creative Cities network and is one of 53 UNESCO Cities of Literature worldwide.

The UK has five: Exeter, Edinburgh, Manchester, Norwich and Nottingham.

An independent charity since 2021, it collaborates with cultural organisations and communities on a range of creative programmes.

Projects include a Silent Book Club, Beyond the Page, Quay Words, a local literary map and a campaign to supply books to Warm Spaces in Devon.

Exeter was awarded city of literature status in 2019.
