2025 Topsham Music Festival

Three day event features jazz, percussion and classical music played by young professional musicians from across the country.

A three day festival of instrumental music played by upcoming professional musicians hosted in Topsham venues returns for its third year from Friday 25 to Sunday 27 April.

The event aims to showcase and support young musicians from across the UK by bringing them and their work to audiences in Devon.

The festival is led by artistic director and pianist Nina Savicevic, who was born in Exeter in 2001.

She studied under Hilary Coates at Wells Cathedral School and is the recipient of several music scholarships and winner of various piano competitions.

She performs across the UK and abroad, often promoting Serbo-Croatian classical music.

The festival opens on Friday lunchtime with a performance by Nina Savicevic and baritone James Connolly. an award-winning duo who will play pieces by Vaughan Williams, Benjamin Britten, Brahms and Mozart.

Also on Friday, prize-winning violinist Polina Makhina and pianist Dina Duisen will play pieces by Stravinsky, Szymanowski and Schumann.

Guitarist Luke Anderson, a recent graduate of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, will play pieces by Mozart, Erik Satie and Astor Piazzollo at Topsham Methodist Church on Saturday.

Later that day the Max Rosen Trio, led by pianist Max Rosen with bassist Peter Hartley and drummer George Binghanm, will play a range of jazz standards at Matthews Hall.

On Sunday afternoon percussionist Sehyogue Aulakh, who has worked with Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Chineke! Orchestra and National Orchestras for All, will play an eclectic range of pieces by composers including J.S. Bach, Ólafur Arnalds and Casey Cangelosi.

Award-wining pianist Julian Chan, currently recipient of the Aud Jebsen Fellowship at the Royal Academy of Music, will bring the festival to a close on Sunday evening with pieces by Lizst, Messiaen, Alkan and Bach.

Tickets for afternoon performances cost £10 and evening performances £15, or £60 for all six concerts.
