An application for full planning permission to construct 54 dwellings on Topsham Golf Academy driving range, part of Exeter Golf and Country Club, has been submitted to Exeter City Council for approval.
The Topsham gap greenfield site sits at the centre of a triangle of land between Exeter Road and Newcourt Road which also contains Topsham Rugby Football Club, Topsham St James Cricket Club and the University of Exeter’s Topsham Sports Ground.
Developer Heritage Homes describes its proposals as an extension of Berkeley Park, a development of 61 dwellings in Exeter Road that was approved by the city council in 2021 with another seven dwellings approved later the same year.
Heritage Homes is also responsible for nearby developments of 50 dwellings to the south of Exeter Road known as The Chase and 30 dwellings to the north of Newcourt Road known as Lynden Place.
The planning consent for Berkeley Park includes permission for a new link road to run along the eastern boundary of the site to connect Exeter Road with Newcourt Road.
The Topsham Golf Academy development proposals include parking for more than 100 cars.
Exeter City Council planning committee approved Exeter Golf and Country Club plans to construct a new golf driving range on seventeen acres of privately-owned land which is part of Ludwell Valley Park in June last year.
They include the construction of a building and car park on the greenfield site, which will remain inaccessible to the public.
The approval enabled the redevelopment of the Topsham Golf Academy driving range for housing.
Comments on the Topsham Golf Academy proposals can be submitted via the city council website until Sunday 10 November.
