The council-owned Matford Centre made a surplus of £871,000 on income of £1,132,000 during 2023-24.
It hosts one of largest livestock markets in the South West, run by Kivells, with transaction values of around £50 million per year. 291,000 animals passed through the market in 2023-24, of which 87% were sheep or lambs and 12% cattle.
The city council received £534,700 in commission-based rent from Kivells. It also received £152,000 in property lease income and £67,500 from events including boxing matches and supercar days.
The site also hosts a regular Sunday car boot sale and outside space is also rented for vehicle storage and lorry and motorbike training.
