Devon 2024 general elections results

The ballots cast for each candidate with vote share in each constituency plus turnout and the distribution of seats.

Martin Redfern with Leigh Curtis

The numeric and geographical distribution of Devon’s thirteen parliamentary seats following the 2024 general elections, with all the seats declared, is:

  • Labour (LAB) 3
  • Liberal Democrat (LIBDEM) 6
  • Conservative (CON) 4

Comparisons with results from preceding parliamentary elections have not been included as all bar one of Devon’s constituency boundaries were changed in November last year after a two year-long review which left only 65 of the UK’s 650 constituencies intact.

The extent of the changes in each area varies. Constituencies which have changed but whose names have been retained are described below as “previous” and constituencies which have not been retained described as “old”.

  • Central Devon: 97% of the previous constituency remains with 3% of the previous Newton Abbot constituency added, 2% removed to Exmouth & Exeter East and 1% removed to Torridge & Tavistock.
  • Exeter: 86% of the old constituency remains with 0.3% of the old East Devon constituency added and 14% removed to Exmouth & Exeter East.
  • Exmouth & Exeter East: new constituency of which 64% was in the old East Devon constituency, 14% in the previous Exeter constituency and 2% in the previous Central Devon constituency.
  • Honiton & Sidmouth: new constituency comprised of 36% of the old East Devon constituency and 58% of the old Tiverton & Honiton constituency.
  • Newton Abbot: 97% of the old constituency remains with 3% removed to Central Devon.
  • North Devon: remains unchanged.
  • Plymouth Moor View: enlarged by the addition of 3.5% of Plymouth, Sutton & Devonport (and comma removed from the name).
  • Plymouth, Sutton & Devonport: 96.5% of the old constituency remains with 3.5% removed to Plymouth Moor View.
  • South Devon: new constituency comprised of 99.9% of the old Totnes constituency, 18% of the previous South West Devon constituency and 0.04% of the previous Torbay constituency.
  • South West Devon: 82% of the old constituency remains with 5% of the old Torridge & West Devon constituency added and 18% removed to the South Devon constituency.
  • Tiverton & Minehead: new constituency comprised of 66% of the old Bridgewater & West Somerset constituency, 38% of the old Taunton Deane constituency and 42% of the old Tiverton & Honiton constituency.
  • Torbay: 99.9% of the previous constituency remains with 0.01% of the old Totnes constituency added.
  • Torridge & Tavistock: new constituency comprised of 95% of the old Torridge & West Devon constituency and 1% of the previous Central Devon constituency.

The House of Commons Library has more information about the changes including demographic data for the new constituencies.
